JibberJobber the Job Board Not. More On Getting Started⦠Last week I had a new user sign up and somehow we got into an e-mail exchange. I asked him how it was going, getting up and running with JibberJobber and his reply was: I set up an account on JibberJobber and went through the slide show, searched for some jobs in my specialty (Dallas Sales) and read your blog. So far so good. I had to reply because Ive done a horrible job making sure that people understand what JibberJobber is. Here is my reply: Ok, heres the deal. This is not a job search engine (although you can search for jobs). Its like a personal CRM like Salesforce for career. I would recommend: Putting key contacts in (they wont get invites unless you specify it, and it is all private data) and begin to manage the relationships that might be key in this job search, including create log entries and action items. Also, go into interview prep and fill in some of those 30 seconds and such. Definitely put in some target companies and use the add a company and add a job to track leads you are pursuing. Thats where I would start. Make sense? If this isnt for you thats fine, I found I needed something to keep track of all of this since I was kind of like in networking overdrive and was gathering a lot of data that was easy to get mixed up. Another thing that Ill commonly recommend is to check out the two-minute videos. This is the fastest way to learn about some of the features of JibberJobber. In many ways, managers play the role of being well organized as well as being well informed in order to produce high output outcomes for the Company. Management is the process of helping to facilitate all of the tools required in order for great people to be able to do their job in the most efficient and effective of ways. No one wants to fault their team or even fault themselves. But often times it is easier to express how important that particular scenarioâs success was based on the cause/reaction that the event had on their fellow team members. That perspective can be quite powerful for someone and slows the potential for them to repeat the mistake. 4. What are ways you measure success? Success can be measured in many ways. On a team level it is measured by time, objective and outcome of that objective. If our team is tasked with a certain KPI/metric, we are going to do everything in our power to get it. And in the allowed time that we have to achieve it. These are ways that we can benchmark our overall success, communication, collaboration and execution. 5. How do you know your team succeeded? Based on the happiness of our team members, happiness of the departments that are working with us and the overall ways that our department was able to intersect with broader company initiatives and objectives. 6. What are 1-on-1âs? These are meetings for which a manager and employee get together to discuss a variety of subject matter related to that person and the company itself. This can be an event where the employee has the opportunity express their personal happiness and allow it to be corrected. It can also be a platform for understand where and how the team may be able to do better. And for the manager to listen in this scenario and produce actionable plans from it. 7. What is individual career development? Every employee has goals that reside outside of the company. They have goals for themselves. And career development is just that. Productivity is about our ratio of execution to communication. And how often we are doing that. Our output should be accurate and our communication to produce that accurate output should be 1:3 at the most in terms of time spent. 9. What is the greatest risk a Company has? Losing time. Time to a company is the greatest risk that it has. 10. What is the greatest commodity a Company has? Trick question, the answer is time. Time is the most valuable commodity within a Company. This is the most treasured commodity, more so than even money. 11. Do you communicate with your team individually or all together as one? Team communication is incredibly important for a shared vision, morale of the team and unifying our efforts. Individual employeeâs rarely want to feel as though they are on an island alone. The importance of their tasks as it relates to their overall team success is an absolute driving factor for many people to contribute heavily and produce high quality work. If your job search is getting you down, read on and find out how you can start getting hired!When you are in a job hunt, you may be in a job search that has you in a constant state of mind of resume writing. There are many reasons for this, but the good news is that you don't have to get discouraged. Some of the best ways to get yourself back on track are:Take some time to relax! Maybe take a little bit of time off and just enjoy the fruits of your labor. It's all about taking some time off and coming back refreshed. The best way to get yourself moving is to make sure you are making a clear and concise goal to yourself and the boss, so they can see what you expect to achieve. Then, you can write everything else down and you will find it is a lot easier to get the goals down on paper!Write a summary paragraph. Write out your best tips and ideas. Your resume should be one of the first things you hand in to be reviewed, so it needs to show a good overview of who you are and what you can offer. Make sure you leave a little bit of room for the boss to consider what you can actually do for them.Brainstorm! What are you going to say that telling the boss 'wow'? Create a list of what you are going to tell them when you hand in your resume. Next, brainstorm as many ideas as you can for what to say! They respond intuitively â" they fight, or run, but they survive.Similarly, a professionalâs readiness is in their preparedness to transition economies and job market changes.What is one advice you would give someone just out of college today?Stay connected to all of the resources your career center provides mostly your network and alumni.What is one advice you would give someone who is switching careers?Connect with those who did it before you, find the common threads in their journey, and along with what works for them, create your own.Whether you experience success or not in your transition, you own it. Everyoneâs path is different.How should job seekers get the most out of LinkedIn?Two neglected sections even content creators donât use: Publications and Honors and Awards. I use both to itâs fullest.People come and it automatically has an impact on their impression of me. It can do the same for high profile and executive professionals, too!Unemployment is at the lowest levels, why do you think that is?I donât think itâs one singular factor, but many professionals are transitioning to jobs for a short time. They are making small but surer leaps.One good thing is the leapers are looking ahead more than they did 10 years ago.What is the biggest trend(s) you see that hiring managers will face in the next 2-3 years?Hiring will be shortened than itâs now 30-60 days. But how can you get the best talent with longer hiring periods? Keep Your Resume Up-to-date At All Times Itâs the start of a new year⦠whatâs on your list of resolutions? We suggest you add keeping your resume up to date at all times Hereâs why, and how! The beginning of a new year is a great time to assess the past and plan changes for your future. Typical resolutions can include anything from new places to see, people to meet, achieving items on your bucket list, personal targets, and career goals. What most fall short of in achieving those goals, is the planning and preparation necessary to get there. Too many times clients call demanding a quick turn around on a resume that has not been updated in years, to apply for an unexpected job opportunity or for a position theyâve been wanting and at the last minute noticed the posting. Really? If you are planning on making changes in your career this year then here is some advice: Determine your goals write down your goals for the year, then under each goal brainstorm what needs to be done to achieve those goals. Most times those activities need to be broken down even further into a step-by-step process. Laying it all out is just one of the first steps in planning, but itâs an essential step that will help you understand all the intricacies needed to succeed. Set a timeline pull out your calendar, set start and completion dates, and donât forget to include the steps in between. Be realistic about the timing and resources (like time, people, money, technology, research) needed to achieve each step. Make sure you check in every couple weeks to track your progress. Be proactive dust that old resume off and start adding the additional information missing. Once the information is all together you have a better chance of focusing your efforts on condensing it, making it relevant, and targeted to your job search. Donât be afraid to seek help most people throw together a resume and think thatâs okay! Well, it most definitely is not. Remember this is YOUR first impression to a potential employer. Not only is the content important, but a tasteful presentation, without any grammar, spelling, or formatting inconsistencies or mistakes, is a must. Again, itâs your first impression, so itâs in your best interest to make it, not just okay, but GREAT! Start using your network proven to be the quickest way to find your next position, networking allows you to follow up on applications, connect one-on-one with potential employers, get references from peers, and uncover untapped opportunities. Get your LinkedIn profile done and start connecting with peers, managers, old colleagues, classmates, groups, and more. Take those courses / training youâve been wanted to take for a while itâs another great way to improve yourself, your skills, stay up-to date on current trends, and keep moving forward. Prepare to market yourself is your elevator pitch ready? Have you brainstormed what makes you tick? Which skills you do best? What are you passionate about? What about references? Are they lined up to attest to your skills, expertise, and work ethics? This is just the beginning, but a good start to achieving your career goals, whether itâs for a new resolution or at anytime in your life.
